Weekend Photos

It was almost 70 degrees in central Alabama yesterday. I took advantage of the bright sunny day and took a few pictures. I took these in Columbiana, a small town near my home, and at a confederate cemetery, also near my home.

The flagpole was reflecting in this window at the county courthouse.

Lake Wilson - Alabama

Lake Wilson - Alabama, originally uploaded by Tammy.R.
I took this photo when we spent a weekend at Doublehead Resort in Town Creek, AL, in December of last year. This was the view from the front porch of the log cabin my in-laws rented for the weekend. It was so peaceful there. I can't wait to go back.

Hello Day 24 of the 365 project. I'm finding it difficult to find inspiration during the work week. I don't have much time during the daylight hours to find a photo opportunity.

Arugula salad w/gruyere, toasted walnuts, and beef...it's what's for dinner.

My parents visited this weekend. I snapped this photo of my dad helping out in the kitchen.

The Morning Sky - with a little boost from Picnik. It makes me wonder, though, how much editing is too much? The sky was pale blue and pale pink this morning and I noticed the pretty palette, so I picked up my camera and went outside. I knew I wasn't capturing anything spectacular, but knew that I could liven it up in Picnik. So, it begs the question: are we capturing reality or perception?

A cold night outside = a warm fire inside

Played a little bit with shutter speed on this one. Tried to slow it down as much as possible to capture the movement of the flame.

I don't want every picture on this blog to be of my dog, Gus, but he looked so sweet this morning I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to snap a photo. I did this in an "old photo" setting. It is cropped, too. The right side showed an almost eaten rawhide bone, and that seemed to take away from his sweet face. I wish it were a little bit sharper, though.
